I think it’s OKAY to have one character whose theme song is Green Day’s Boulevard of Broken Dreams!  But only one, that’s the benchmark, or you run the risk of having a bunch of emo bastards running around your world and no one is interested in that noise.  Your friends may say they are but they’re lying.  It’s like the Evanescence rule in movies: the higher the ratio of Evanescence songs to movie, the higher the likelihood that said movie is gonna suck ass.  Case in point— Daredevil.  Don’t let your characters be the Evanescence rule.  Stop making whiny high school characters whose theme songs are from Green Day albums.
